An effective way to soothe feelings of overwhelm, is by being present in the moment.
One of the best parts is that you can do it in just a few minutes!
Sit in a comfortable position.
For additional simplicity, focus on your sense of hearing.
What do you hear inside?
Your computer? A dog playing? The sound of your breathing?
What do you hear outside?
Cars going by? The wind? Home repair noises?
What sounds are missing from your regular "soundtrack?" For example, maybe you notice a lack of traffic or street noise for this time of day and day of the week.
What were your favorite sounds?
Focus on how your favorite sounds made you feel.
Hopefully, you were able to slow down and appreciate aspects of yourself and your environment you might not have noticed before!
